The houses in Fitzhugh are provided with two wheelie bins: one of general waste (Green lid ) and one for recyclable waste (Blue bin) these are collected on a Tuesday for most of the area, most weeks those collection days can vary when interrupted by bank holidays etc...
Different arrangements are also made for blocks of flats, which work on a bulk system. The collection day for the flats at the end of Burton Road, bordering on St Mark's Church for instance is a Monday
Garden waste is collected every other weeks in special green garden refuse bags issued to each house and should be left outside on relevant day.
Glass cannot be recycled by this system, the nearest recycling bin for glass is to be found n Upper Banister Street, if you go down the alleyway besides McColls in Befdford Place you will find a glass skip, a paper skip and a clothes skip.
