Whether a School is right for you or your child depends on what you are looking for, what your child needs and many other factors.
Quality of individual schools can vary quite dramatically from year to year with variations in staffing, parental support and other matters. If you need to references for a school current users are probably your best approach and most parents will be happy to advise on the basis of their own experience
In the end it is about finding a school your child is comfortable with, which can at the same time provide the inspiration for learning. This does not always mean great reputation or facilities ... though initialy at least these should not be ignored.
Using local schools means shorter school runs, less stress and more time for other things. It also means an education within the context of your own community, so school friends etc are also local
